Mama it's good to know there's a candle in your window
When the world is just too much for me to take
And Mama it's good to know that your arms are always open
And there's no I told ya so's for my mistakes
 

The road I'm on has some rough old miles
And each one makes me feel older
When I try to change the world and it just changes me
You're the only one who can simply smile
That old chip right off my shoulder
And shed love and light where I can barely see
 

Mama it's good to know that there's family all around you
And Mama you know I'd be there if I could
And Mama I guess you know all that you've taught me, I've found true
But Mama I guess you always knew I would
 

The road I'm on sometimes brings me down
Right to the border line of crazy
When for every step I take, I give up two
All I have to do is just think about
All that you went through to raise me
And I somehow find the strength to see me through
