Older and
Colder
I use
to believe the sun would rise or set for me
But I was
younger then
And there
were lots of things that I believed
The days were
warm and sunny way back then
But now these
rainy days today
Seem like
they'll never end
And I used
to believe that love was such a simple thing
That everyone
would fall in love and birds would sing
But there's
lots of real good folks out there who'd disagree
They've all
been married once or twice including me
I’m getting
older and colder
Maybe a little
bolder
But I still
need a shoulder
To cry on
My hair is
turning grayer
And my old
heart shelf’s bare
But for a
little hope
That helps
me carry on
And I always
believed that God watched over each of us
Though I know
there's some who believe he must be predjudice
And I used
to believe that the only way was the USA
But I really
haven't felt like that since J.F.K.
AS our skies
are slowly darkened and the system fails
While street
gangs turn our neighborhoods into mini- hells
While the
leading cause of birth defects is Mommy's drugs
And there's
lots of arms to go around but to little hugs
I’m getting
older and colder
Maybe a little
bolder
But I still
need a shoulder
To cry on
My hair is
getting grayer
And my old
heart shelf’s bare
But for a
little hope
That helps
me carry on
Yes,
I’ve got this icy stare
You know it’s
really hard to care
For a damned
old world that don’t know
Right from
wrong
But I got a
little hope
That keeps
me hangin’ on
